The same course as The Journey but with distinct start time, Sponsor, podiums and swag for those riders 18 and under! Whether you ride or race, we all love playing bikes! Roads may include some rough dirt sections but only if dry and completely rideable. Most of the mileage will be a mix of Flint Hills gravel and hard packed Ag gravel.
April can be a mix of any kind of weather. Cold, warm, sunny, dreary, rainy and most definitely windy. FHG ROCKOUT! will feature rideable roads no matter the weather. Keep in mind though the Kansas Spring wind can slow you down and add time on the bike. A big part of gravel is learning to Prep and Pack for success. Be ready.
Thanks to the generosity of our local sponsor, Longbine Autoplaza, you can expect a PItStop about midway . I can only say we are fortunate enough to have some of the best volunteers in gravel. They've got you. Hydration will be provided. Supplementary nutrition will be available. Never depend on someone to know what you want though. Pack your favorites. Prep and Pack. Be ready. Two bottles are suggested on the bike or a 48oz bladder on your back.
Any age is welcome to ride! The Junior race starts 10 minutes before The Journey. Both categories use the exact same course. If you are 18 and under and prefer to ride with your parent or guardian, its simple, just wait and rollout with the Journey riders. Podium divisions are 14 and under and 15-18 years of age.
We wanted to give the FHGR riders a little extra difference so we designed a separate T-Shirt for you. Hope you like it!

Who would have thought that the simple concept of lightweight, shock absorbing grips with no glues (along with the idea that logos at the end of your bar and tread patterns on your tires – not on your grips) would be accepted by racers/riders across the world!” – Gary
