Race it. Ride it. Embrace all that a gravel event has to give. Flats, rollers, punchy climbs, dirt roads, hero gravel...we have it all!!
April can be a mix of any kind of weather. Cold, warm, sunny, dreary, rainy and most definitely windy. The Challenge will feature mostly rideable roads no matter the weather. In 2021 after a full night of rain, riders had a 2 mile walk. My goal is to NOT repeat a long walk. Don't get me wrong, I have no issue with mud. You may get muddy. You may choose to dismount sections BUT, no more two mile marches. Long sections will be routed around. A big part of gravel is learning to Prep and Pack for success. Be ready.
Thanks to the generosity of our local sponsor, Longbine Autoplaza, you can expect TWO PItStop's. I can only say we are fortunate enough to have some of the best volunteers in gravel. They've got you. Hydration will be provided. Supplementary nutrition will be available. Never depend on someone to know what you want though. Pack your favorites. Prep and Pack. Be ready. Personally I suggest THREE bottles of hydration on the bike for this distance. The wind can be...challenging.

My racing experience starts back in 2008 when I first started dreaming about owning a set of carbon wheels. I put 30,000 miles on my first set and never had a problem. Back then I weighed 220 pounds. Those wheels set a benchmark to the durability I strive to build in each and every wheel.

Many miles and many big name brand wheels later, I always felt the wheels could perform better. I started venturing into the world of wheel building and never looked back. After the first couple personal sets, I began building wheels for friends and word of mouth quickly spread. As a racer with a full-time job, I started creating wheels for the working athlete taking price point, performance, durability, and customization into top consideration.
