A step up from The Tour. Expect a few more hills, maybe a good dirt road and a taste of the Flint Hills of Kansas! The Journey is meant to test your legs and mental strength a little but then get you back home for the party. Focus here is more on the journey than the race. We'll recognize Overall podiums for male, female and non-binary.
April can be a mix of any kind of weather. Cold, warm, sunny, dreary, rainy and most definitely windy. FHG ROCKOUT! will feature rideable roads no matter the weather. Keep in mind though the Kansas Spring wind can slow you down and add time on the bike. A big part of gravel is learning to Prep and Pack for success. Be ready.
Thanks to the generosity of our local sponsor, Longbine Autoplaza, you can expect a PItStop about midway . I can only say we are fortunate enough to have some of the best volunteers in gravel. They've got you. Hydration will be provided. Supplementary nutrition will be available. Never depend on someone to know what you want though. Pack your favorites. Prep and Pack. Be ready. Two bottles are suggested on the bike or a 48oz bladder on your back.
